Are Shisha Pens Safe to Use

Shisha pens, shisha sticks, vapes and e-cigarettes have all become very common nowadays. Even though they come with different names and in varying styles, they all serve the same purpose.

A shisha pen is basically an electronic device that helps in delivering nicotine in form of vapours to the user, and unlike the traditional cigarette the user does not need to light it thus creating no smoke at all. For many regular smokers this is a downside for them therefore many manufacturers have started to add faux smoke from the vapors which helps in creating the feeling of a traditional shisha or cigarette.

A typical shisha pen is mainly made up of 3 different components
1.       A liquid cartridge
2.       A battery which is replaceable
3.       A heating element known as an atomizer

The cartridge just like the battery can be replaced which contains the flavoured liquid which when used is vaporized. While there are some options which have no nicotine in them at all some others do. The cartridge also includes a mouthpiece that is attached to the device.

All of these electronic shishas are known to be a safer alternative to smoking the real thing. The basic concept behind using these shisha pens is that it helps in avoiding tobacco and the smoke that is emitted, helping users avoid the long list of toxins and chemicals found in cigarette smoke.

Are Shishas and Shisha Pen the Same Thing?
Even though the names are very similar they are in fact two different things. A shisha basically involves tobacco that burns by burning charcoal on top of it.The smoke coming out of the burning tobacco then passes through a water basin. While both the shisha and shisha pen are mostly flavors the shisha pen only contains nicotine (while there are some which don’t) while a normal shisha uses tobacco.

The use of shisha has become quite popular now a days especially with young teenagers as most of them think that it is much safer than smoking. However, the opposite is true, as an hour of shisha usage is equal to 200 puffs of a cigarette, proving that shisha users may be inhaling many more toxins compared to cigarette users.

This fact makes shisha pens a much safer option as they do not use any tobacco within them. However, it is still too early to determine if a shisha pen is as safe as its manufacturers say so.

What is the difference between a shisha pen and an e-cigarette?
Not that there is a lot of difference between the two smoking devices, some features are attributable to one and not to the other. Some points of similarity and difference can be condensed as the following:
Shisha pens tend to be much more brightly colored than e-cigarettes. While an e-cigarette tends to have a more sombre looking design making it look more like a regular cigarette. Given its visual appeal, the significant look of a shisha pen makes it more popular among teenagers, while electronic cigarettes tend to target former smokers who are either trying to quit smoking or who are looking for a more socially acceptable and healthier alternative.

The law of using a shisha pen
The best part of using a shisha pen is that as it doesn’t use any form of tobacco or harmful toxins so one can easily use it in public areas where even regular smokers would not be allowed, such as in restaurants or on public transport. Shisha pens are still being regarded as a tobacco product are not allowed to be used by teenagers younger than the age of 18, pregnant women, or people with lung or breathing diseases.
